WWII USAAF Sweetheart Brooch 1.5”x 2.5”

Brooch is unmarked but has been tested with acid and magnets. This item is a World War II United States Army Air Forces (USAAF) "Sweetheart" brooch or pin, commonly made of sterling silver with a gold wash. Purpose: These sentimental tokens were purchased by servicemen to give to their wives, girlfriends, or mothers during the war. Design: Features a propeller superimposed over wings, often detailed with small rhinestones. Context: They are highly collectible pieces of "home front" militaria from the 1940s. Origin: The design is based on the military insignia used by the USAAF.
