Avon Lionel 1931 #400E Blue Comet Pewter Train Model on Wood Base 1991 Vintage
Perhaps the most famous passenger train in American history (even featured in the June 3, 2007 episode of The Sopranos). the Blue Comet was operated as a luxury passenger train by the Central New Jersey Railroad between Jersey City and Atlantic City from February 21, 1929 through September 27, 1941. Named The Blue Comet (also called Symphony in Blue) because the "locomotive, tender, and coaches sported a unique royal blue paint scheme designed to evoke images of celestial bodies speeding through space".
