A signed, Native American sand art vase with ruffled rim and bear motif.
Signed Native American ruffled rim and the use of sand-like texture on the body. 5 1/2" tall x 3 1/2” diameter. The artists use natural red clay and mix it with a fine sand or volcanic ash to create the distinctive, slightly coarse texture visible on the surface. This is a traditional method, particularly among Navajo artisans. Minor flaws on rim and on center of bear on one side.
