Vintage Hand Carved Spanish Cedar Wood Jewelry/Keepsake Box-Honduran Village 3D Relief Aromatic READ 6” T x 8” L x 5.5” W
This impressive piece features a deep, multi-layered 3D high-relief carving that wraps around the lid and sides. It beautifully depicts a traditional Central American hillside village landscape, complete with rustic homes, winding pathways, hand-carved stone walls, and native palm trees accented with subtle green-stained foliage. Honduras (Faintly stamped on the base), also 099 is hand written on the box. Beautiful Solid Honduran Spanish Cedar (Cedrela odorata). Features a highly desirable, authentic, sweet cedar aroma when opened.
Condition: Good vintage condition with solid structural integrity, deep wood grain contrast, and fully intact metal hinges. Exterior: Displays a warm, aged patina. There is a small area of typical clear-coat (urethane) flaking on the front lid's carving consistent with age, which adds to its honest vintage character. *Please see last two pictures for a distant and closeup view. Interior: The interior wood is completely raw and unlined, retaining its wonderful natural fragrance. It shows original, dark maker's varnish pooling rings and drips on the bottom from the traditional artisan manufacturing process (as pictured).Perfect as a standout addition to a global folk art collection, a unique cigar box, or a rustic statement jewelry chest.
