#0036 Vintage glass millefiori paperweight with floral canes.

2” no chips or cracks. Millefiori, meaning "a thousand flowers" in Italian, is a glasswork technique that produces distinctive patterns on glass objects. This technique involves the creation of small, colorful glass rods, called canes, which are then heated, stretched, and cut into small discs. These discs are arranged in a desired pattern and then fused together within a larger piece of glass, often a paperweight or vase. Italian glassmakers, particularly those from Murano, are renowned for their mastery of the millefiori technique, which dates back centuries. These paperweights became highly popular decorative and functional items, especially during the 19th and 20th centuries, appreciated for their vibrant colors. Each piece is unique due to the handmade nature of the process, making them sought-after collectibles.
