No chips or cracks Milk of Magnesia, a brand name for magnesium hydroxide, was first marketed as an antacid and laxative by Charles H. Phillips in the late 19th century. The Chas. H. Phillips Chemical Company became well-known for this product, and its distinctive cobalt blue bottles are now sought after by collectors. These bottles were produced in various sizes and shapes over the years, often featuring embossed branding for authenticity and identification. Cobalt blue glass was frequently used for medicinal bottles during the late 19th and early 20th centuries, as it was believed to protect the contents from light degradation. The vibrant blue color also made the bottles visually appealing and easily recognizable. Today, these vintage bottles are popular among collectors of antique apothecary items, advertising memorabilia, and colored glass.
