Vintage Bing & Grøndahl Children Reading Model # 1567. Excellent Condition

This porcelain figurine depicts a young boy and girl sitting closely together while engrossed in a book open across their laps. It features a soft underglaze color palette of subdued blues, warm grays, and creams beneath a high-gloss clear glaze.

Originally designed by Danish sculptor Ingeborg Plockross Irminger in the early 20th century, this piece was produced by the renowned Bing & Grøndahl porcelain manufactory in Copenhagen, Denmark. The company was celebrated for its tender genre figures of children and animals, executed in Denmark's signature underglaze technique that softened contours and created an atmosphere of quiet intimacy. Highly popular throughout the mid-to-late 20th century, these nostalgic figurines remain widely collected today as classic examples of Scandinavian porcelain design.
