Artists like Jorge Wilmot played a significant role in popularizing and refining this craft, blending traditional techniques with contemporary aesthetics. Ceramic figurines, such as this duck, are common examples of Tonala artistry. They are typically crafted from local clay, glazed, and then meticulously hand-painted by skilled artisans. The decorative elements are often applied using a technique called "pinta de jara," where designs are painted freehand, giving each piece a unique character and artistic value.
