#5101 Hand-painted Nippon ceramic vase with a landscape scene.
5x3 no chips and cracks. The term "Nippon" on porcelain indicates that the item was manufactured in Japan for export between 1891 and 1921, following the McKinley Tariff Act. This period saw a significant increase in Japanese ceramic production for Western markets, with companies like Morimura Brothers (which later became Noritake) establishing themselves as major exporters. These pieces often featured hand-painted designs, including landscapes, floral motifs, and scenes inspired by European art. Morimura Brothers, founded in 1876, was one of the earliest and most prominent Japanese companies to export ceramics to the United States. Their "Nippon" marked wares are known for their quality craftsmanship and diverse decorative styles, ranging from simple transferware to elaborate hand-painted scenes. Many "Nippon" pieces are highly collectible today, appreciated for their historical significance and artistic merit.
