Up for sale is a beautiful, authentic piece of vintage American utilitarian art pottery: a hand-turned stoneware pitcher crafted and signed by legendary Master Potter Pete Payne.

Known for his decades of incredible craftsmanship at the historic Marshall Pottery in Texas, Pete Payne’s pieces are highly sought after by collectors of traditional Southern stoneware and mid-century studio pottery.

This particular piece beautifully showcases his signature style, featuring deep, prominent horizontal throwing rings, an out-turned rim, and an expertly pulled strap handle with characteristic thumb-impressed attachments at the base.

The vessel is finished in an earth-toned, reduction-fired tan glaze. Natural iron flecking (pyrite blooms) bleeds through beautifully from the underlying clay body, giving the pitcher a stunning, one-of-a-kind rustic character. The unglazed bottom features his iconic hand-painted cursive "Pete" signature.
