Vintage John Garrou Pottery Apple Baker Pink Rose Drip Glaze Signed NC
Offered for your consideration is a lovely vintage hand-thrown studio art pottery apple baking dish. Meticulously handcrafted in North Carolina by the celebrated regional folk potter John Garrou, this striking piece coordinates flawlessly into a rustic country farmhouse kitchen, traditional cottagecore hutch display, or cozy Grandmillennial lifestyle vignette.
The heavy, thick-walled stoneware body features a beautifully thrown round silhouette completed by an organic, hand-crimped ruffled wavy rim. Standing directly in the center is a hollow, heat-conducting cone post designed to bake a cored apple evenly from the inside out. The vessel is drenched in a rich, high-gloss reactive glaze, showcasing a vibrant rose-pink and mulberry-red coloration that naturally breaks into a soft lavender-white halo along the upper rim peaks.
Condition: Excellent vintage condition. The heavy stoneware pottery body remains structurally flawless, pristine, and solid with absolutely no chips, cracks, structural hairline fractures, or internal baking stains. The glossy glazes remain remarkably rich, colorful, and fully intact throughout with no notable display shelf wear.
Measurements: Oven and microwave safe table scale. Measures approximately 5 inches in diameter at the mouth x 2.5 inches tall.
Markings: The underside base proudly features the authentic hand-stamped or incised identification markings of the artist. Markings: The unglazed underside resting base proudly preserves its authentic, pristine hand-incised script signature reading: "John Garrou" sitting directly over the handwritten execution date: "9-25-91" (September 25, 1991). The raw clay ring is further detailed with two crisp factory identification stamps reading: "HANDMADE" and "OLD FORT, N.C."
