Vintage Italian Majolica Raffaellesco Dragon Wall Pocket 12” Renaissance Grotesque Style

Modeled after a traditional cornucopia horn, this wall pocket features the iconic Raffaellesco design—a stylized, benevolent dragon motif originally inspired by the 16th-century frescoes of master artist Raphael. Hand-painted in a vibrant palette of golden yellow, cobalt blue, burnt orange, and copper green. The dragon has the wings of a griffin, the tail of a serpent, and blows wind from its mouth, the upper torso is modeled after ancient Roman depictions of female mythological entities, such as sphinxes, harpies, or siren. 12” long period does have rough spots and a chip as shown in picture.
