Vintage Handmade Ceramic Grotesque Bird (Wally) Thailand Art Statue, Personality Plus!
This is a weirdo that I have been in love with for a while. I'm not sure if he's supposed to be a kingfisher or just .... bird. I love his expressive face and his squat body. In researching, I found that he's reminiscent of the Martin Brothers' Wally bird or their Grotesque Birds statues and cigar holders. It may have been an attempt to mimick these. He's definitely a character. He has some slight crazing on his belly and wing, only noticeable up close. His glaze is a bit droopy around the end of his beak. He stands about 9" tall.
