Vintage Gold Glass Domed Bridle Rosette Converted To A Brooch 1.75”
Bridle Rosettes (converted to a brooch or pin) were during the 19th century, some estimates place the pin conversion in the 1930s or 1940s. They feature a glass dome over a hand-painted or printed image set in a brass frame. The scene depicts a sidesaddle rider (often referred to as a jockey or fox hunter) jumping a fence on a horse, with two small hounds below. The rider is wearing a red jacket and a blue skirt. Bridle rosettes served an aesthetic purpose on horse tack and were also a symbol of the owner's status and interest in equestrian sports. They are now highly collectible and often upcycled into jewelry like brooches or necklaces. The actual rosette is possibly a Victorian antique.
