Vintage EXTREMELY RARE, INGEGERD RÅMAN Frosted Apple with Apple Seed Inside! AMAZING STORY! READ!!!!
Seed is Visible thru Clear Leaf Area, By INGEGERD RÅMAN, Signed 'IF' on leaf. 3.5" high to tip of stem. Great cond. Ingegerd Råman is one of Sweden's foremost glass designers and ceramists. Since the 1960s, she has created beautiful functional objects in simple and pared-down designs. *The apple is designed by Ingegerd Råman in 1997 on request of Benny Andersson (ABBA), who wanted to give all the participants in the set of the musical "Kristina från Duvemåla" a personal proof of appreciation. (The story about Kristina and Karl Oscar who leaves Sweden for America, after years of famine) Ingegerd Råman researched the history behind the musical in Vilhelm Mobergs books and was captivated by the astracan apples significance throughout the long story. When Kristina is tormented by homesickness and remembers the apple trees at home on the farm in Småland, Karl-Oskar sends a letter home to Kristina's father and asks him to send seeds from Kristina's beloved astracan tree. Of course, it takes many years before this seed from the homeland bears fruit, but as I remember it, the books end with Kristina holding an astracan apple in her hand, smelling its wonderful fragrance, closing her eyes in a smile before she dies. When you look inside Ingegerd Råman's seemingly completely white, frosted apple, you can see the black seed under the leaf.
