Vintage Czechoslovakia Victoria China 10” Plate W/ Pheasant And Flowers
The company, originally named the Porcelain Factory "Victoria" Schmidt & Co., was established in 1883 in Altrohlau, Bohemia, at the time part of the Austro-Hungarian empire, and initially marked their wares "Austria". Transition to Czechoslovakia: After World War I, Bohemia became part of the newly formed Czechoslovakia in October 1918, and Altrohlau was renamed Stara Role . This explains why china produced by the factory after this time is marked "Czechoslovakia". Victoria China was known for its dinnerware, often featuring floral or Art Deco designs, with some patterns identified by numbers. Examples include the "Dorset" pattern and pattern VIT3 with Dresden-style floral sprays. The factory operated under the "Victoria" mark until 1945, when it merged with other porcelain factories to become Starorolský Porcelán
