Vintage Chinese Cloisonné Water Buffalo Figurine

This is an Asian brass cloisonné water buffalo reclining, and decorated with flowers on a field of blues. The technique used here is an ancient one. The brass or bronze item is covered in a pattern in copper wire. The cells are then filled with multi colour enamels to form the decoration. The art was perfected in China by the 18th century. Those, especially Imperial pieces, are sought after and very expensive. This is a rendition of these earlier pieces. It is decorative, and the water buffalo or ox has a special significance in Budhist symbolism.
