Vintage Cardboard Prescription Pill Box From Beacon Drug Co Dated 1918
Vintage cardboard prescription pill box from Beacon Drug Co. (The Rexall Store) with handwritten text reading "La Grippe" on the cover. "La grippe" is an old-fashioned French term for influenza (the flu). A paper insert glued inside the lid with the typed prescription number 31524, the name Dr. Reynolds, and instructions reading "One with each dose of two white tablets". Additional handwritten notes instruct "every two hours until pain leaves" and display the date "MAY 23 1918". This artifact is an exceptional piece of American pharmaceutical history directly tied to the darkest days of the 1918 Spanish Influenza pandemic. Some staining on the box, otherwise good condition. 2” x 2” x ⅞”
