Vintage Bohemian Emerald Green Cut to Clear Crystal Pedestal Compote Bowl 6"
This style of green cut-to-clear crystal compote was popular during the late 19th and early 20th centuries, particularly in European glassmaking centers. The technique involves layering colored glass over clear crystal, then cutting through the colored layer to reveal intricate geometric patterns beneath. This labor-intensive process was perfected by prestigious manufacturers including Baccarat, Saint-Louis, and Josephinenhütte, making these pieces symbols of luxury and craftsmanship during the Art Nouveau and Art Deco periods.
Cut-to-clear crystal compotes are highly prized by collectors of fine glassware and decorative arts enthusiasts who appreciate the technical skill and artistic design of historical European crystal. The vibrant green color and sharp geometric cutting make these pieces particularly desirable for display in formal dining rooms or as centerpieces. Collectors value these compotes for their historical significance, craftsmanship, and the prestige associated with major European crystal houses of the era.
“Excellent vintage condition! The crystal is incredibly brilliant, heavy, and clear with no interior cloudiness, sickness, or post-production damage. The pedestal stem and foot are pristine. Please note: Along one small section of the upper rim, there is a rough, unpolished miter edge from the factory (see close-up macro photo). This is a natural artifact of the aggressive hand-cutting process by the master glass artisan and is not a chip or post-production fracture. It displays beautifully!”
