These intricately patterned plates have been handcrafted by Ceramar in Manises, Valencia and show the young “meninas”, or ladies in waiting, that the Spanish artist Valezquez depicted in his paintings. Ceramar is a family run business in Valencia, Spain. Their ceramic plates are painted using a special stenciling process and then hand detailed with a paintbrush. The majority of the Ceramar patterns are intricate kaleidoscope geometrics that bring to mind Spain’s huge Arabic influence.
