Vintage ('30s) Mountainside Pottery (John Kovacs) Bowl/Planter, Speckled, 9"x6"
This vintage Mountainside Pottery Bowl (could be used as a Planter) from the 1930s was made by potter John Kovacs, a Hungarian immigrant associated with Rutgers University who founded the pottery in 1929 in Mountainside, New Jersey. (The studio closed in 1941.) The bowl is a charming piece with a peach-colored glaze that contains speckles. It has an oval shape and columns or pillars on circling the outside of the bowl. It weighs 2 pounds and 1.7 ounces, making it a sturdy and unique addition to any collection. The dimensions are 9.3 inches long and 6.2 inches wide, with a height of 3 inches. The bowl is in excellent condition, particularly given its age. There are no chips, cracks or signs of wear. If you purchase more than one item, I am happy to combine shipping to save postage cost.
