Vintage 1930s Japanese Celluloid Rickshaw Figurine - Pre-War Geisha & Puller (Complete with Umbrella) 3” T x 3.75” L x 1.5” W
This is a remarkably well-preserved, fully complete example of an authentic pre-war Japanese celluloid novelty figurine depicting a traditional jinrikisha (rickshaw) carriage. Includes the highly fragile, matching removable parasol (umbrella) held by the geisha, which is almost always lost or damaged on surviving pieces from this era. Features a crisp, high-relief "MADE IN JAPAN" block text stamp molded directly into the undercarriage, confirming its origin as a 1930s export novelty.Artistry: The backrest of the carriage features a highly detailed, molded relief of a mythological Japanese Shishi (guardian lion) or Komainu accented with subtle hand-painted floral borders. S4-1A
Condition: Glue on the inside of the umbrella, at the base. This could be the way it was made. Some paint loss on the blue fender and possibly a little on her hair.
Measurements are approximate, please see pictures for condition and measurements as a part of the description.
Very delicate, it will be double boxed for shipping.
Thank you for looking!
