Barro Negro Pottery Oaxaca Mexico-With original tags Vase / Tea Light Holder-
This is a vase, that was made in San Bartolo Coyotepec Oaxaca Mexico. An area known for its Black Pottery. In Mexico this art is not just pottery but a living art form- a testament to centuries of ancestral wisdom. It dates back to Monte Alban period ( around 500 BCE) What makes it distinctive is its metallic black finish, which is achieved through the firing process of its locally sourced clay. It is then polished by hand with a quartz stone. This vase has its original tag from the artist. It is signed- though it appears more like a scribble. The design is stunning- with its cut outs that go all the way around. I was going to use it for tea lights. I believe it would be just amazing lit up. This is being sold as used- as a decorative piece on a shelf. No breaks or cracks. Non smoking home Non pet home. Measures: Approx. 6 inches tall, Bottom diameter is 2.75 inches. Thank you for looking. Please ask any questions!
