Togatta-kei Kokeshi Japanese Wooden Doll, 6"
The marking identifies the doll as a 1960's promotional gift presented to the Yamaha corporation. The kanji character means Yoshi, serving as the signature from the artisan or workshop family who turned and hand-painted the piece in Tohoku, Japan. The material is likely sundried Mizuki (Giant Dogwood) or chestnut wood sealed with a light protective lacquer. The piece is in good condition with no splits in the wood. The paint for the hair is slightly faded, due to age.
