琉園 is the Chinese name of Liuligongfang / LIULI, the famous Taiwanese cast-glass art house founded in 1987 by Loretta Yang (楊惠姍) and Chang Yi (張毅). This paperweight is an earlier piece, making it scarce and hard to find. The aqua/green color represents Jade. Two dragons join together to form the cloud handle which represents heavenly blessings. The Hulu gourd symbol on the front and back is a very common motif in Chinese art and has several auspicious meanings: Overall Symbolism: • Protection from misfortune (hulu + jade symbolism) • Longevity and health (hulu) • Harmony and elevated mind (bell symbolism) • Heavenly blessings (cloud handle) • Good luck and prosperity (combined motifs) In short, it is a paperweight meant to sit on a desk or shelf and bring “Good fortune, harmony, protection, and long life.” Condition: No condition issues noted.
