Sansaku Sekiguchi Michizure Fellow Traveler 関口三作 Sosaku Kokeshi Doll A1294

Authentic Japanese sōsaku kokeshi by master craftsman Sansaku Sekiguchi (1925–2018), titled “Michizure” (道づれ), translated as “Fellow Traveler.” The distinctive rounded figure is carved from wood with a broad conical travel hat, softly painted face, ochre outer robe, and deep green patterned kimono. The red seal on the underside matches Sekiguchi’s documented Sansaku seal. Sekiguchi was designated a Contemporary Master Craftsman by the Japanese government and received the Prime Minister’s Award three times. This Michizure design is now difficult to find, with comparable examples currently sold out at specialist kokeshi dealers. KAIKO&CO
