Item Overview: Up for sale is an incredibly rare, set of four (4) hand-painted majolica ceramic plates produced by Industria Ceramica Salernitana (ICS) in Vietri sul Mare, Italy. Dating back to the late 1920s or early 1930s, these highly collectible 6-inch plates feature the iconic, whimsical designs of renowned artists Irene Kowaliska and Richard Dölker. Design & Artistry: Motifs: Three plates depict beautifully detailed peasant-style woven baskets overflowing with vibrant fruits, flora, and stylized birds. The fourth plate features a stunning central arrangement of folk-art flowers and bells. Borders: Each plate is framed by the signature, hand-painted green and yellow striped border that defines this historic era of Vietri ceramics. Dimensions: Approximately 6 inches (14.6 cm) in diameter. Origin: Handcrafted in Italy. Condition Report: These plates are in good vintage/antique condition for ceramics that are nearly a century old. Colors remain vibrant with a beautiful, glossy glaze. No structural cracks or major damage. There is some discoloration noted in photos which should be expected. As with all authentic period majolica, there may be minor glaze pops, tiny flecks, or light crazing inherent to the original firing process and age. Please review all high-resolution photos carefully as they form part of the description. Authentication: The backs feature the authentic period markings characteristic of ICS production. They have a stamped ICS, fish image and ITALY stamp. Several also show the hand written marks of the crafters. Please review photos for specific marks
