OOAK!! ANTIQUE 1913 Magnum Silver Foil on Cobalt Paperweight Honoring a 'Walter E Mohr' of Scranton, Pa.
NOT ANOTHER OUT THERE LIKE THIS!! It was most-likely a one-of-a-kind, special order item that was gifted to Walter for whatever occasion. 4.0" dia. Great cond. Historical records confirm that Walter E. Mohr was a highly influential Boy Scout executive and civic leader based in Scranton, Pennsylvania, active during the early to mid-20th century. Scouting Leadership & Historic Role: Troop 16 Co-Founder: Walter E. Mohr served as the inaugural Assistant Scoutmaster for Boy Scout Troop 16 in Scranton. He helped supervise the troop's very first historic camping trip to Lake Ariel during the summer of 1915. Scouting Legacy: His work laid the foundation for Troop 16, which grew to become one of the longest-running, most celebrated troops in the region, eventually producing hundreds of Eagle Scouts. Professional Career: He later transitioned from volunteering to a career role, ultimately serving as a retired Boy Scout Executive for the regional council. Personal and Family LifeMarriage: He was married to Florence E. (Rupert) Mohr, who was originally from White Mills, PA. Scranton Residency: The couple lived in Scranton for many decades. Florence passed away in September 1962 at Hahnemann Hospital in Scranton, and her funeral mass was held at St. Mary’s Assumption Church. Walter is also buried there and died after his wife did. Children: They were the parents of Walter H. R. Mohr (1920–2006), who carried on the family's legacy in Scranton as a local television executive for WVIA, an educator, and a World War II Army Air Corps veteran.
