Navajo Horsehair Pottery Maka-Sika Etched w/ Turquoise Pot Signed 4.75”
Horsehair Pottery | Etched Ceramic Vessel with Turquoise | Southwestern Art Pot 4.75” tall 6” wide 4.25” opening on the top Hand-etched geometric & symbolic design Traditional horsehair firing with dramatic black linework Turquoise stone cabochon center accent Signed by the artist (see photos) "Vail"? Approx. 4–4.25” wide x 3.75” tall One-of-a-kind, handmade art piece Description This exquisite vessel is an authentic Native American horsehair pottery piece, hand-formed and traditionally fired using the horsehair technique, where strands of horsehair are applied to hot clay, creating the distinctive black, lightning-like markings seen throughout the surface. The form is carefully etched with geometric floral and symbolic motifs, with turquoise stone cabochons set into the body of the pot. Turquoise holds deep cultural significance in many Native American traditions, symbolizing protection, balance, healing, and connection to the earth and sky. The natural stone-colored clay body, combined with the organic horsehair patterns and white etched lines, gives this piece a strong Southwestern / Native American contemporary art presence. Each firing produces completely unique results, making this a true one-of-a-kind work. The pot is signed by the artist (visible in photos), comes with a certificate of authenticity signed by the artist Excellent condition with no breaks or chips (4214526a)
