MEISSEN Oval Trinket dish Blue Onion - Crossed Swords 4.25” long
MEISSEN Small Trinket dish, Hand-Painted Blue Onion - Crossed Swords 4.25” by 3.25” by 1” Meissen porcelain dish with a scalloped edge in the famous "Blue Onion" pattern. The pattern, known as Zwiebelmuster in German, was created by Meissen around 1731 as a European interpretation of popular Chinese porcelain designs. It is hand-painted in cobalt blue using a heat-resistant paint developed by the factory in 1722. Meissen porcelain is identifiable by the "crossed swords" mark, which represents its quality and origin in Saxony, Germany. The shape is often described as a shell or oval dish, and it can be used as a trinket dish, serving bowl, or ash tray. Elegant porcelain dish with intricate blue floral design on a white background.
