Hello! I’m so excited to be part of this network! My name is Ruth Guajardo and I live in San Antonio, Texas. I am not new at selling, my husband and partner, have owned a gift shop and gallery since 2001 called El Sol Studios. We are both Artists and makers, and of course collectors. We have However downsized and partnered with my BFF who also owned a shop as long as me and went in together instead and opened a space that holds both stores (Pulquerios/El Sol Studios. We have always had an insatiable interest in Vintage and unique finds, but our focus had been in Mexican Folk art, handmade and cultural gifts, jewelry and more, until recently. Jianzhan or Tenmoku style tea bowls Set w/ oil spot Glaze By Master Zhou Qinghua
This listing is for a set of 2 Jianzhan or Tenmoku style tea bowls, featuring a distinctive "oil spot" glaze created through high-temperature kiln firing. The glaze is rich in iron, which creates unique crystalline patterns that resemble shimmering spots against a dark background. They originate from traditional Chinese craftsmanship and are often used for drinking tea due to their heat retention properties, but can be also used to drink sake. Only one of the cups has a signature, this is the personal signature mark of Master Zhou Qinghua, a contemporary artisan specializing in handcrafted Jianzhan teacups. Master potters from the Jianyang region in Fujian carve their names directly into the iron-rich clay base before firing to authenticate their individual ceramic works. Both are in perfect condition, no nicks or cracks.
