Japanese Ginbari Cloisonne Vintage Pair 5” Floral Vase Rose Pigeon Blood Red

In good condition. There is a small chip on the glass enamel on one of the vases. Measures 5 inches tall and 2 1/2 inches wide.

Made in the mid-20th century 1950s–1960s in Nagoya, Japan. They utilize the traditional Ginbari technique, where a layer of textured, dimpled silver foil sits entirely beneath a translucent crimson glass enamel outer layer.

When you turn the vases to the back and see the faint silhouettes of bamboo stalks and leaves shining out from underneath the red glass. These are lightly carved directly into the underlying silver sheet.
