Indonesian Sasak Handmade Pottery Earthenware 5” Flared Vessel Pitcher w/Handle
The Sasak craftswomen on the island of Lombok have made beautiful pottery vessels for generations. Made from the clay from the hills surrounding the main villages where the pottery is produced. The pots are fired in outdoor kilns fueled by wood, straw and rice husks - giving each piece its unique blackened fire markings. This unusual shaped vessel measures just under 5" in height with a wide flared (funnel-like) top, a round bottom and pedestal on bottom. Lightly carved geometric designs and the fire-marks add to the natural beauty of the piece. Sasak label on bottom. The piece also has a large handle. It is in excellent pre-owned condition. No chips, cracks or issues.
