Imperial PSL Cream Ceramic Vase with Blue Flying Bird Motif Austria 8.25” tall
8.25” Tall cream ceramic vase. Hand painted Blue bird illustrations scattered around the body. Subtle gold trim on the scalloped rim. Signed Clark Imperial PSL, which was the trade name for the Pfeiffer & Lowenstein porcelain works in Schlackenwerth, Bohemia (then part of the Austrian Empire). Manufacturer: Pfeiffer & Lowenstein (P&L), often marked as Imperial PSL. Design: Features a hand-painted motif of blue flying birds on a cream-colored body with a scalloped gold gilt rim. This specific combination—birds with a gold rim—is a characteristic theme of their early 20th-century production. Origin & Age: Most pieces bearing the "Imperial PSL" and "Austria" marks date between 1900 and 1918. The presence of "Austria" typically indicates a production date prior to the 1918 dissolution of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. Style: The soft, muted finish and nature-inspired bird theme reflect an Art Nouveau or Jugendstil influence. Excellent condition with no breaks or chips some of the gold on the rim has worn off (672620261)
