George Harper Landscape Pottery Amphora Vase 1978

George D. Harper of West Virginia, was a revered potter known for his creations involving landscapes. He was also a painter. Unfortunately, he passed away in 1977, however, his few collection pieces still circulate today. What we have here is a fine jug-like amphora style vase, signed “G. Harper 1978” on the bottom. The anterior depicts a moody scene of a house of multiple windows placed at the center, giving the illusion of walking on an uneven path towards it. The sharp ends of the fence posts in view are realistic and one can get lost just by looking at this piece. The vase is free of any chips or cracks. It is in stunning condition.
