Fenton 1973 Iridescent Carnival Glass Shoemaker Plate w/Stand American Craftsman
This Fenton American Craftsman collector plate (No. 1629) titled “Shoemaker #4 – Plymouth, Massachusetts” commemorates one of the earliest tradesmen of Colonial America. Produced in 1973, the plate features a detailed raised scene of a colonial shoemaker at work inside his shop, surrounded by tools, boots, and period furnishings. The plate is crafted in iridescent carnival glass, displaying rich tones of black, purple, and rainbow highlights that shift beautifully in the light. A floral border frames the historic scene, showcasing Fenton’s signature pressed glass artistry. The reverse describes Thomas Beard, a cordwainer who came to Salem in 1629, highlighting early American craftsmanship and settlement history. This piece is No. 4 in Fenton’s annual American Craftsman series, making it a desirable collectible for fans of vintage Fenton glass, colonial history, or carnival glass display pieces. Includes wood display stand.
