Antique Japanese Bone Inro Ojime & Netsuke Box -Rooster

Inro are traditional Japanese multi-compartment cases used to carry personal items such as medicine, tobacco, or seals. They became popular during the Edo period (1603-1868) as a functional accessory for the kimono, which lacked pockets. Inro were often intricately decorated with carvings, lacquerwork, or inlay, reflecting the owner's status and artistic taste. They were typically worn suspended from the obi (sash) by a cord and an ojime (sliding bead). Worth bet $300-$500
