The blue underglaze mark consists of an interlaced "SP" monogram. This stands for Sächsische Porzellan-Manufaktur (Saxon Porcelain Manufactory), commonly known as Dresden Porcelain or Carl Theime in Potschappel, Germany. Below the monogram, the word "Dresden" is written in a stylized, cursive script.Faintly stamped into the porcelain paste above the blue mark, you can see the incised pattern name or German words describing the piece "Gartenrotschwanz" is the German name for the Common Redstart (Phoenicurus phoenicurus), a small migratory passerine bird in the chat subfamily.
