#0067 Cobalt blue art glass paperweight enclosing a gold aventurine sea urchin design.

Skilled glassblowers in workshops around the world create decorative art glass objects by hand using traditional melting and shaping techniques. These pieces are made to serve as colourful desk ornaments or paperweights that showcase the mesmerizing effects suspended within molten glass. Artisans achieve these intricate patterns by rolling hot glass over metallic flakes and trapping air bubbles inside clear layers.

People place these decorative glass spheres on desks and tables to hold down loose papers or simply to enjoy the play of light through the coloured crystal. The tradition of glass paperweight making dates back to the nineteenth century and continues today in independent studios and factory workshops. Over time, production shifted from utilitarian office accessories to collectible display pieces appreciated for their unique visual designs.
