5” Art Nouveau iridescent glass vase with flared rim and applied base. Wilhelm Kralik Glassworks was a prominent Bohemian glass manufacturer founded in 1870 in Meyrsdorf, Bohemia (now part of the Czech Republic). The company was renowned for its innovative glass production techniques, particularly its iridescent and opalescent glass, often referred to as "Kralik Glass." Their Art Nouveau and Jugendstil pieces are highly sought after by collectors for their distinctive colors and fluid designs. Art Nouveau, flourishing from the 1890s to the 1910s, was characterized by organic, flowing lines and inspiration drawn from nature. In glassmaking, this translated into elegant forms, often with applied decorations and a focus on vibrant, iridescent finishes that mimicked the shimmer of natural materials like peacock feathers or insect wings. Kralik's work perfectly embodies this aesthetic, making their vases significant examples of decorative art from the period.
