#3012 A hand-painted and incised Peruvian terra cotta folk art vase.

6” tall No chips or cracks

Peruvian artisans working in regional workshops craft decorative pottery using locally sourced natural clays dug from the earth. Traditional makers shape these vessels by hand or on simple wheels before applying detailed etched designs and earthy mineral pigments. Such decorative pottery pieces were made to showcase ancient pre-Columbian design motifs and vibrant folk art styles to visitors and export markets.

Local families and craftspeople used these small vases to adorn domestic living spaces as colourful decorative ornaments on shelves or tables. They were displayed in homes across South America and later sold widely in international gift shops as souvenirs of travel. Over time, production shifted toward mass-market commercial craft outlets, though many traditional hand-etched techniques remained popular.
