1950s–60s Atomic Sputnik Faux Pearl Cluster Brooch Blackened Metal

A fabulous 1950s–1960s mid-century statement brooch with that dramatic atomic-era look collectors love. This dimensional design features a dense burst of creamy faux pearls arranged across a sculptural radial spoke or “Sputnik” framework, creating a wonderfully full, domed cluster.

The darkened silver-tone/blackened metal setting gives the pearls beautiful contrast and adds to the striking mid-century aesthetic. Viewed from the reverse, the wheel-like construction is especially interesting and gives the piece its distinctive architectural form.

A terrific example of Atomic Age costume jewelry — bold, sculptural, and wonderfully wearable. It would be especially fun for the Queen’s Jewel Raid Train, with all those luminous pearl “jewels” clustered together.
