#0427 Mary Gregory cranberry glass tumbler Pair .
3.5” tall, No chips or cracks. The Mary Gregory style of glass decoration originated in the late 19th century, often attributed to the Boston-based Gregory family of glass decorators, though similar styles were produced in Bohemia and by American companies like Fenton. This technique involves applying white enamel paint to colored glass, creating raised, detailed scenes, typically featuring children engaged in playful activities within idyllic landscapes. The distinctive white silhouette against the colored glass became highly sought after for its artistic appeal and delicate craftsmanship. These tumblers, with their cranberry hue and enameled depictions of children, are characteristic of this popular decorative art glass. While Fenton Glass Company in the United States was a prominent producer of Mary Gregory style items, similar pieces were also manufactured in Bohemia (now part of the Czech Republic). The style remained popular through the early to mid-20th century, making these pieces collectible items for those who appreciate Victorian and Edwardian decorative arts.
