#01 Vintage “Nunquam Non Paratus” Great Britain Made Heraldic Eagle Brooch – 2”
A striking vintage silver-tone brooch featuring an ornate heraldic-style design with a central eagle or bird motif framed within a circular crest. The Latin motto “NUNQUAM NON PARATUS” appears in raised lettering around the border, translating approximately to “Never Unprepared” or “Always Ready.” The design has wonderful dimensional detailing, including textured feathers, a crown-like upper element, and darkened recessed areas that highlight the intricate relief work.
The brooch measures approximately 2 inches and is stamped “MADE IN GT. BRITAIN” on the reverse. Finished with a traditional pin stem and C-style clasp. The metal is unmarked for silver content, so I would describe it as silver-tone metal rather than sterling.
Condition: Good vintage preowned condition with noticeable age-appropriate patina, oxidation, and surface wear, particularly on the reverse. The darkened patina beautifully emphasizes the raised details on the front. Pin and clasp appear intact based on the photos. I would leave the patina as-is for the new owner rather than polishing.
