Vintage Hand Blown Aurene Iridescent Studio Art Glass Pulled Feather Paperweight. Measures approximately 2.5x2.5 inches. No chips or cracks. Aurene glass is a highly collectible type of ornamental, iridescent art glass developed in the early 20th century. The glass achieved its brilliant metallic, lustrous surface by being sprayed with stannous chloride or lead chloride solutions while hot, then reheated under precisely controlled atmospheric conditions. This caused the metal salts to break down into microscopic ridges that reflect and refract light, creating a prismatic, oil-on-water effect.
