#0076 A Murano fused glass and Oro square paperweight with original label.

Murano glass has been crafted on the Venetian island of Murano for centuries, maintaining a world-renowned reputation for exceptional artistic quality and innovative techniques. Master glassmakers on the island developed specialized methods for embedding metallic foils, such as gold and silver, directly into molten or layered glass compositions.

During the mid-to-late 20th century, Murano studios expanded their production to include modern decorative items like solid fused paperweights and sculptural desk accessories. These pieces often feature colorful glass shards, millefiori elements, and genuine gold leaf sealed inside clear or tinted glass blocks, carrying official paper labels to authenticate their Venetian heritage.
