Before becoming one of the earliest action film directors in Germany, Delmont worked globally as a trapper and wild animal trainer. The Artist: The iconic graphic artwork featuring a director aiming his camera at a yawning hippopotamus was designed by Ludwig Hohlwein, one of the most celebrated and influential German poster artists and lithographers of the early 20th century. The Book: Published in 1925 by Dieck & Co. in Stuttgart, the book detailed Delmont's adventurous first-hand experiences using live wild animals on film sets. It became highly successful and went through 14 editions.
