Jasperware or Jasper ware is a type of pottery first developed by Josiah Wedgwood in the 1770s. Jasperware is usually described as stoneware, with an unglazed matte “biscuit” finish. Josiah Wedgwood is credited with industrializing the manufacture of pottery. Very nice Wedgwood of England Jasperware Vase measuring 2.75" in diameter and 5" tall with Cupid motif on both sides. It has the impressed mark marked at the Base: Wedgwood Made in England. The color was created during Josiah Wedgwood’s trials while he was developing Jasperware - he carried out many experiments, grinding colors to achieve a range of hues. The choice of colors was dictated by the shades most favored for neo-classical interiors by the modish architects, particularly Adam and Wyatt. The iconic light blue jasper he developed gave rise to the expression "Wedgwood Blue" .Wedgwood blue continues to inspire around the world. From home interiors, lifestyle and fashion to the Bridgerton boom on Netflix. The symbolic pale blue colour palette represents history, timeless style and understated elegance. The soft blues and creams mirror subtle elegancy and high society, something which has carried through generations.
