Excellent condition Polly Whitcomb, a Vermont native, is best known for her studio pottery made primarily in the 1970s–1990s, when she produced hand-thrown stoneware with distinctive glazing, wax-resist decoration, and a balance of earthy and vibrant tones. Her early pottery reflects both New England craft traditions and later influences from her years living in Ribera, New Mexico, where she worked extensively in clay before transitioning into mixed-media assemblages around 2006. While her later career emphasizes found-object art and exhibitions such as Erosion, Corrosion & Clay (2008) and Reverence for Rust (2011) at Patina Gallery in Santa Fe, her pottery from earlier decades remains highly collected for its craftsmanship and organic, functional beauty.
