Tree Philadelphia Fire Mark Cast Iron Replica American Historical Fire Company-"K"
Tree is painted. This would be pretty hanging on a garden wall. Info within pictures about fire marks is NOT included-Pictured as a FYI. Interesting history. This one: "Tree Fire Mark" Because of Ben franklin's theory that trees attracted lightening, caused fires to spread and hampered firefighting equipment, insurance companies refused to issue policies for buildings surrounded by trees. In 1784, members of the Philadelphia Contributorship, most of whom had trees near their buildings, formed the Mutual Assurance of Philadelphia. The tree symbolizes the company's opposition to the accepted belief of the day. Measures approx: 11"L, 7.25"W, 3 1/4 Lb. Is in great condition. This will ship alone
